The 5-Q670 modification incorporates a fluorescent Quasar® 670 dye at the 5’ terminus of an oligonucleotide. 5’ Quasar 670 modified oligonucleotides can be used in a wide array of applications including dual-labeled fluorogenic probes for real-time PCR. Quasar 670 fluorophore is an indocarbocyanine dye which fluoresces in the red region of the visible spectrum and can be effectively quenched by BHQ®-2 dye. It is used as a direct replacement for the Cy™ 5 dye.
