The 3-CO modification adds a fluorescent CAL Fluor® Orange 560 dye to the 3’ end of an oligonucleotide. CAL Fluor Orange 560 labeled oligonucleotides are used in a wide array of applications, including dual-labeled fluorogenic probes for real-time PCR. The fluorophore is conjugated to a modified thymidine which may participate in hybridization. CAL Fluor Orange 560 fluorophore is a xanthene dye that fluoresces in the orange region of the visible spectrum and can be effectively quenched by BHQ®-1 dye. It is used as a replacement for the VIC, HEX and JOE dyes.
