The 5-CG modification adds a fluorescent CAL Fluor® Gold 540 dye to the 5’ end of an oligonucleotide. CAL Fluor Gold 540 labeled oligonucleotides are used in a wide array of applications, including dual-labeled fluorogenic probes for real-time PCR. CAL Fluor Gold 540 fluorophore is a xanthene dye that fluoresces in the yellow region of the visible spectrum and can be effectively quenched by BHQ®-1dye. It is used as a replacement for the TET dye.
