The 3-ATTO 488 NHC7 modification incorporates an ATTO™ 488 dye (ATTO-TEC GmbH) at the 3' terminus of an oligonucleotide. ATTO 488 modifications boast excellent water solubility. With strong absorption and high fluorescence quantum yield, ATTO 488 can be used in a wide array of applications, including single molecule detection, high-resolution microscopy, and fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH). The fluorophore is conjugated via a serine linker. ATTO 488 is a xanthene dye and can be used as a substitute for Alexa Fluor® 488 and FAM; particularly where enhanced photostability is desired. ATTO 488 fluoresces in the green region of the visible spectrum and its fluorescence can be effectively quenched by BHQ®-1 dye.
