The 5-ATTO 565 modification incorporates an ATTO™ 565 dye (ATTO-TEC GmbH) at the 5' terminus of an oligonucleotide. With strong absorption and high fluorescence quantum yield, ATTO 565 can be used in a wide array of applications, including single molecule detection, high-resolution microscopy, and fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH). ATTO 565 belongs to the class of rhodamine dyes and can be used as a substitute for Cy3.5™ and PET™; particularly where enhanced photostability is desired. ATTO 565 fluoresces in the orange region of the visible spectrum and its fluorescence can be effectively quenched by BHQ®-2 dye.
